I have been working as a professional translator since sophomore class. After having graduated from Bilkent University's Translation and Interpretation Department in 2002, I worked in several sectors including media and advertisement, while also continuing my profession as a freelancer. For 4 years from early 2003 to 2007, I served as Foreign News and Health Page Editor in national newspaper Tercüman. In the meanwhile, for six issues I served as editor in chief for a monthly alternative health magazine called Bioenergy & Vitamins. Also in 2003, I established my own publishing and music production company, Arkaplan, together with my childhood friends. With Arkaplan we produced several music albums and published more than 10 books. One of the books (ISBN No: 9756128046) was my own title, covering my criticisms -as a young foreign news editor- on the history of Turkish conservative movement. In 2007, I decided to leave media sector and refocused on my original profession in linguistics. I started as Project Manager in Avrasya Translation, and after having gained some very valuable experience on clients, projects and translation tools I decided to continue as a full time freelance translator. Also I was working as interviewer for UNHCR on the verification of registration data of Syrian refugees in Ankara.As a native Turkish, I am fluent in Arabic and English. Working as localization specialist for major accounts in IT, marketing, ERP, technical and legal since 2015. Before being freelancer, I have worked in company which is exclusive SAP SE localization partner in Turkey. I took part in localization of corporate and legal texts as well as translation processes of the SAP SE systems. Aside from ERP, I have gained experience in IT, marketing and technical texts. During my career, I have also worked as a project manager for 9 months and managed projects for major companies from IT, marketing (mainly tourism and travel) and technical fields.

As a passionate linguist, I made my debut in the translation and localization world in 2014, when I was only a freshman in the university. I started as an intern and ended up to be freelance translator at SDL Turkey for 2 years. During this period of time, I gained immense amount of experience and I learned how to use multiple translation tools. Following that, I worked for a transcription company and made transcriptions of voice records both in English and Turkish. Finally, I started working with Localex in 2017 and that was one of the best decisions I made regarding my profession. During my time in SDL plc. and Localex I made translations, reviews and proof-reading in a wide variety of fields such as law, IT, marketing, legal, medical, gaming. I am a professional English <> Turkish translator and proofreader. I completed numerous projects for several clients in multiple specializations. I have been in translation business since 2002, and have knowledge about all types of documents and CAT software.

I have Bachelor's Degree in Translation & Interpreting Studies at Yeditepe University in Istanbul. Since the beginning of my education at this department, I have done many translations in EN > TR and TR > EN language pairs. I did my internship at ES Language Services, which is the first localization company to be established in Turkey and is widely known in localization sector. I have gained experience in website localization, IT texts and some other fields I listed on my profile during my internship and my education. As someone with a diverse educational background and having worked in different areas, I have managed to employ my various skill and know-how to translation/editing/review processes. My bilingual education since elementary school, different areas (applied sciences, economics, marketing) of expertise and mostly my passion for anything related to technology has proven very useful, and humbly, distinguishing even. I am a passionate and experienced translator, who has a degree in French-English-Turkish translation and interpretation. I have also lived in Germany for 4 years and can translate from German to Turkish. I am working as a full-time translator at the Ministry of Justice in Turkey. I also work at the Turkish Standards Institution as a part-time language expert and translate EC and ISO standards into Turkish.
