I am a proficient bilingual Spanish to English and French to English translator, proofreader and copy editor and I specialise in marketing, technical, medical and legal texts. I am currently studying an MA in translation studies on a part-time basis (2021-2023), having completed an undergraduate degree in European Studies with German and Spanish over the previous four years. Having worked as an intern in a translation and localization role in 2021, continuing as a freelancer afterwards, I have 6 months experience in translating a wide range of texts. I have a keen interest in travel and culture, having spent time abroad in both Germany and Spain during my degree. I came a little late to translating... I spent a few years trying out different careers. I worked as a legal assistant, a bookkeeper, an office manager, an HR representative, even a restaurant manager... all before I found my calling. While I sometimes wish I had gotten into translation sooner, I'm thankful that I was able to experience such a wide variety of positions. It makes me a stronger translator, as I'm well versed in the vocabulary used in such widely different positions. Now, I'm able to put all of those various skills to use, helping others to communicate with the best, most natural translations possible.

With a Master's Degree in the Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College, VT, I consider myself to be a grammar expert, in addition to being fluent in the language. I had study abroad experiences in Mexico prior to living in Madrid during graduate school. In 2010 I spent the Winter-Spring semester traveling throughout Argentina and homeschooling my then 3rd grade son and 7th grade daughter. Also in 2010, I began a summer language immersion program, True Immersion, LLC, in Sevilla, Spain for American teens - which continues today. I am highly proficient in Italian - primarily self-taught - but have also studied at the Lorenzo de Medici and Centro Firenze language schools in Florence over the last 14 years.
