I'm a professional translator. I speak four languages. [Kurdish-Sorani native, Arabic-Native, Turkish, English Fluent (C1), Russian fluent (C1)].

I graduated from Translation and Interpreting Studies Department in the year of 2012. As an undergraduate student at Boğaziçi University, I have improved my English speaking skills through the courses. Moreover, I cannot deny the great contribution of my visiting the USA and working there for three months. During my education I worked at different places, such as publishing houses, translation offices so as to gain experiences. Apart from translating legal and business documents for various local and international translation companies as a freelance translator, I have also edited a number of books, stories, poems and other creative texts. I also completed my M.A. in Comperative Literature at Istanbul Bilgi University, which contributed my academic and linguistic skills. Following that, I started my Phd at Translation and Interpreting Studies Department at Yıldız Technical University in 2017.

I have been doing translations since 2006. I'm also running a translation agency, however that's a separate business, and you can be sure that all translations at smartcat are done by me personally. I am a certified translator, conference interpreter, engineer and Candidate of technical sciences (kandidat nauk). My language-related hobbies include etymology and comparative linguistics. * Yes, I do speak several languages. * No, I am not fluent enought in French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Polish, Azerbaijani or Arabic to translate TO these languages, but I do understand them enough to translate FROM them.

After working in different industries for over 10 years, I've started working as a freelance translator seven years ago. I started my career in the translation and localization field working as a vendor translator for SDL plc. when I was at Boğaziçi University. During that time, I completed several projects and gained experience mostly in technical translation (automotive and manufacturing). I'm working as a freelance translator since 2007 and my main expertise areas are IT, technical, and video games. I also work on marketing, social sciences, educational materials, and questionnaires in general. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and native speaker of Turkish, so I mostly work on English-Turkish pair.
